Class 132(2) In a tennis &c. racket having a tubular handle 6 which can be detachably connected to the normal head frame stem 3, the latter tapers outwardly from the head and the former is tapered to correspond and has slits 7 so that it can be forced over the stem until a stud 4 on the stem passes through a hole in the handle. The parts are further clamped by a ring 9 having an internal groove 10 in which lies a split contact ring 11. The handle is balanced by moving a threaded nut 14 up and down a screwed rod 12 held in the handle - by a cross-piece 13 resting in the base of the slits 7.' The nut 14 has a tyre frictionally engaging the inner surface of the tube 6 which may be made of thin spring steel.</p> |
