A method for combusting fuel in a combustion of a pulse combustor comprising the steps of atomizing a liquid fuel with a gaseous fuel, directing the atomized liquid fuel through a nozzle and into the combustion chamber of the pulse combustor, and igniting the fuel. The present invention also provides a fuel system for a pulse combustor that includes a nozzle in fluid communication with a combustion chamber of the pulse combustor. Sources of liquid and gaseous fuel are provided and a device for atomizing the liquid fuel with the gaseous fuel. There is a transport system coupled to the nozzle and the atomizing device for flowing the gas-atomized liquid fuel through the first nozzle and into the combustion chamber. |
