CONSTITUTION: The photoelectric conversion device wherein an input light signal passes through an optical amplifier 3 before entering a converter consisting of a photodiode 1 and an electric preamplifier 2 is provided with a means which controls the gain or attenuation coefficient of the optical amplifier 3 by controlling a pump source 4 according to an electric output signal detected by a level detector 8.
