PURPOSE:To provide a blurry printing preventing device wherein blurry printing immediately after power is supplied can be prevented. CONSTITUTION:A printing controller 11 comprises a counter 111 and a comparator 103. The counter 111 counts the number of times of driving of a printing head 37 based on a detection signal when power is supplied and printing is requested. The comparator 113 compares a reference value of a setting device 112 with a counted value and produces a switching signal for selecting low speed printing when the counted value is below predetermined number of times of the reference value and selecting normal printing when it is above the predetermined number of times. A head auxiliary circuit 12 is constituted of a driving time switching circuit 121 and a circuit 122 for determining the number of driving pins. The circuit 121 drives the printing head 37 for a fixed time after power is supplied by a driving time width signal of a low speed driving time width in accordance with the switching signal, and drives the printing head 37 with a normal driving time width signal in accordance with the switching signal after the elapse of a fixed time. The circuit 122 supplies the printing controller 11 with a detection signal representing that pins the number of which is above a predetermined number are driven in a dot in the horizontal direction, which is detected by the printing head 37. |
