ULTRA-THIN FILM OF POLYMER ELECTRET AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE:To provide an electret having sufficient surface charge at a thickness of molecular order and provide a process for producing the electret. CONSTITUTION:The objective electret having high surface charge and consisting of an oriented ultra-thin polymer electret 7 formed on a substrate 3 is produced by forming a monomolecular film consisting of molecules having unsaturated group or forming a built-up film composed of the monomolecular films on a substrate, irradiating the film with an energy beam to polymerize the unsaturated group in the molecule and applying a high voltage to the film. As an alternative method, it can be produced by physically bonding a side chain of the polymer with the substrate to form a thin film and applying a high voltage to the film.
