PURPOSE:To provide a water-shielding material for optical fiber cable having excellent water-blocking property and cable-forming property in the connection and the manufacture of the cable. CONSTITUTION:A highly water-absorbing powdery resin is supported on a substrate by using a binder consisting of an aqueous solution of a mixture of (1) a polymer produced by neutralizing a carboxyl-containing polymer with a basic substance and (2) a polyvalent epoxy compound and/or a polyvalent amine compound as a crosslinking agent. |
