PURPOSE:To eliminate frequent ink supply operations and improve operability of a device in an ink jet recording device equipped with a plurality of heads and a plurality of ink tanks. CONSTITUTION:An ink supply instruction (exchange of ink tank) is displayed after a lowering of remaining quantity of ink of a color (for example, cyanogen) is detected and after a predetermined quantity of recording is performed. During this time, when a lowering of remaining quantity of ink of other color (for example, magenta) is detected, an ink supply instruction of the color is also displayed at the time of display. Also, after this display, when remaining quantity of another color (for example, yellow) lowers during a period until recording operation is decided to be unable in an unsupplied state, an ink supply instruction of that color is also displayed immediately. Thus, two or more ink supplying operations can be performed at the same time. |
