PURPOSE:To obtain stable recording quality by restraining impurities from being eluted by a method wherein an ink absorbing material consisting of a high molecular elastic porous material having continuous bubbles is provided to an ink containor in an ink jet cartridge, which is housed in the ink containor in a compressed state. CONSTITUTION:An ink jet cartridge 1 is composed by integrally providing an ink jet head 12 to which many discharge opening are formed, an ink jet unit 13 in which the head 12 is contained and an electrical wiring and an ink wiring thereto are arranged, and an ink tank 14 containing ink. The ink tank 14 is composed of a cartridge body 1000, an ink absorbing material 900, and a cover component 1100. An elastic porous polymer material having continuous bubbles in its inside which does not contain a plasticizer as a dispersing agent dispersing a pigment for coloring the ink absorbing material, is used as the ink absorbing material 900, which is made to be contained in the cartridge body 1000 while it is being compressed. |
