[Also in Group V] The crown surface 4 of the worn tyre casing is trued by buffing, the side surfaces of the shoulders are buffed at obtuse angles to remove the tread design from the shoulders as at 7, liquid rubber cement is applied to the buffed portions and uncured tread stock 8 is applied to the buffed crown portion, this stock being wider than the buffed crown and overhanging the surfaces 7, as shown in Fig. 3. The tyre is then fitted into a vulcanizing ring 9, by initially spreading the beads apart to reduce the diameter of the tyre, and vulcanized in the manner shown in Fig. 5 to produce the retreaded tyre shown in Fig. 7.
