<p>An apparatus serves for reprocessing scrap tyres under the effect of heat. To achieve a strict separation of the rubber from the steel inserts or the like, without having to fear any particular tool wear, the apparatus is designed as a centrifuge which can be charged from the top but can be closed. Its rotor 19, 20, 21, 22, which is provided with a screening cover 24 receives as centrifugate a stack of scrap tyres 23 kept at a distance from the screening cover 24 by axially parallel rods 21 or the like. This stack of scrap tyres surrounds a fixed heating element 14, a circulating stripper 10, transporting into a bottom outlet 6, being provided for the inside wall of the centrifuge.
