The method for automatically searching the information on a recording medium comprises the steps of: detecting the kind of input keys; setting the mode of a player in response to the auto-search, time-control or other input keys; detecting the present mode of the player; in case of reproducing mode, setting the rewind mode at the reproducing end time and in case of rewind mode, setting the reproducing mode at the rewind end time; and returning to the main program.
