PURPOSE:To uniformly generate electric discharges between electrodes and secure the uniform brightness over a flat fluorescent tube by feeding the sine- wave output of an inverter circuit to split electrodes in sequence. CONSTITUTION:An electrode switching circuit 2 repeatedly switches fixed contacts 21, 22.... Several cycles of the sine-wave output of an inverter circuit 3 are fed to an electrode 12 and split electrodes 131, 132... in sequence, electric discharges are uniformly generated in sequence, and uniform luminescence is provided over a flat fluorescent tube 1. The switching speed of the electrode switching circuit 2 is set in response to the characteristic of the flat fluorescent tube 1 to be driven. Since the output of the inverter circuit 3 is a sine-wave shape, the harmonic component is reduced, and the cause of noises can be removed. |
