PURPOSE:To easily obtain an outline map between two specified points by providing an image data generating means which holds only information on passing point positions as map information between the respective positions and generates an outline map image by using data. CONSTITUTION:A center is called, service is started, and a user inquires a point to be obtained through an audio response device 4. In this case, the user specifies codes in a code book with push buttons to specify the start point and end point. At the center, a push-button tone recognition device 5 recognizes the specified points, retrieves the start point and end point in a map data base 3, and retrieves a route. Then, a map is generated by using data on the retrieved points and data on the course and sent from the FAX 6 for reception to the user-side FAX 8 by utilizing a public telephone line 7. Consequently, the outline map connecting the two specified points can easily be obtained. |
