摘要 PURPOSE:To expand a photosensitive wavelength region by a method wherein a fluores cent substance is contained in an organic compound layer composed of a single layer or a plurality of layers or a wavelength conversion layer containing the fluorescent substance is formed. CONSTITUTION:A layer 1 which contains an organic compound (a charge-generating substance) which can generate and isolate an electric charge is sandwiched between electrodes 2, 3. A substance which is provided with charge-conveying power may be added to the layer 1. In this case, the charge-generating substance is not provided with any absorbing power. That is to say, a substance (a fluorescent substance) which absorbs a nonsensitive wavelength and which emitts fluorescence at a wavelength in the spectroscopic absorption region of the charge-generating substance is added. Consequently, even when the added substance is not provided with any charge- generating power singly, the wavelength is converted into the absorbing wavelength of the charge-generating substance. As a result, a photosensitive wavelength region is expanded as a whole. For example, an inorganic pigment or the like can be enumerated as charge generating substance change carrying substance is not limited to specified one. The fluorescent substance includes 4-(dicyanomethylene)-2-methyl-6-[2-(9- durolidyl)ethenyl]-4H-pyrane.
