PURPOSE:To automatically add a paragraph number by providing a retrieval means retrieving a position to which the paragraph number is added from a document being the object of paragraph numbering in accordance with a previously specified rule, and a paragraph number addition means adding the prescribed paragraph number to the position retrieved by means of the retrieval means. CONSTITUTION:Document data generated by a document preparation function in a document generation device is stored in a document buffer 6. When a prescribed key in a keyboard 16 is depressed, a document conversion program is started, and a document conversion processsing is started. An arbitrary processing is selected from a displayed selection menu item. When 'paragraph number setting' is selected, an automatic paragraphing program 14a is started. In a paragraph number setting processing, document data stored in the document buffer 6 is set to be the object. Namely, the document which is stored in FD and HD and which is displayed in a display unit 18 through FDD-IF23 and HDD-IF24 is paragraphed. |
