<p>PURPOSE:To improve the transmission efficiency of a device on the whole by executing cell abandonment partially in a specific information source. CONSTITUTION:This device consists of plural reception circuits 1-1 to 1-n which receive cells from plural information sources, a storage circuit 2 where cells received by reception circuits 1-1 to 1-n are multiplexed and are temporarily stored, a control circuit 3 which records the number of cells stored in the storage circuit 2 and controls reception circuits 1-1 to 1-n in accordance with the number of stored cells, and a transmission circuit 4 which successively outputs contents stored in the storage circuit 2 to a transmission line. When the number of stored cells exceeds a preliminarily determined first threshold, the control circuit 3 sets one of reception circuits to the cell sending inhibition state to abandon cells received by this reception circuit hereafter until the number of stored cells is smaller than an independently determined second threshold smaller than the first threshold; and thereby, the number of information sources where cells are abandoned is reduced to the minimum possible to reduce the loss in the whole of the device.</p> |
