SILVER HALIDE PHOTOGRAPHIC COMPOSITION CONTAINING PYRAZOLO (1,5-A) BENZIMIDAZOLE PHOTOGRAPHIC COLOR COUPLER

PURPOSE: To form a dye improved in hue characteristics by incorporating a specified magenta color coupler. CONSTITUTION: The 2-alkoxy-pyrazolo[1,5-a]benzoimidazole color coupler is used and a preferable color coupler is a nondiffusible magenta dye-forming coupler represented by formula I (wherein each of R<1> -R<4> is an H atom or a substituent; R<5> is an optionally substituted alkyl group; X is an H atom or a coupling releasable group; and at least one of R<1> -R<5> or X contains a ballasting group capable of rendering the coupler nondiffusible in the photographic layers). The dye formed from this coupler has excellent spectral characteristics as compared with 2-alkyl and 2-aryl homologs from the view point of having desirableλmax in a short wavelength region and a narrow half value width.
