PURPOSE:To obtain a permanent magnet wherein its magnetic characteristic as the permanent magnet is excellent and its mechanical strength and its corrosion resistance are large. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic alloy which contains rare-earth elements is sintered, heat-treated and mechanically worked. After it has been heat-treated again, a ceramic film is formed on the outer surface by, e.g., a CVD method. Since it is heat-treated again, a crack on the surface is reduced. The bending strength of a permanent magnet is increased beacuase the ceramic film is applied to the outer surface. In addition, since the permanent magnet is protected from a high-humidity atmosphere by the film on the outer surface, its corrosion resistance is enhanced. |
