<p>A universal medication port (10) includes a cylindrical member (12) having an internal bore (18) with a plurality of radial passageways (28 a, b, c, d,) extending therefrom. A plunger (13) is disposed within the internal bore (18) of the cylinder (12), the plunger (13) having an internal bore (33) with a plurality of radial passageways (36 a, b, c, d) extending therefrom. The plunger (13) is movable in response to insertion of a needle-less hypodermic syringe (26) into the internal bore (18) of the cylindrical member (12) so as to align the respective passageways (28, 36) in the plunger (13) and the cylindrical member (12) with one another to establish a fluid path from the syringe through the internal bore (33) of the plunger (13) and respective passageways (28, 36) in the plunger (13) and the cylindrical member (12) to a respectable, such as a vial (43), an intravenous bottle (48) or intravenous delivery system (53), in which the cylindrical member (12) is inserted.</p> |
