New poly:carboxyalkyl-aminoalkyl-anthranilic acid derivs. - useful as chelating agents, esp. in photographic applications

Anthranilic acid derivs. of formula (I) are new. In (I) Z completes a benzene or naphthalene ring opt. substd. by an alkyl, NO2 or COOH gp.; X = H or L1-COOM; M1-M4 = H or cations; L1-L3 = alkylene; W1 = a linking gp. contg. an alkylene gp. with at least 2C atoms. Pref. Z completes a benzene ring opt. substd. by Me, COOH or NO2; X = L1-COOM; L1-L3 = CH2. W = 2-4C alkylene. USE - (I) are chelating agents useful in photographic applications (e.g. their Fe3+ complexes are useful for oxidising Ag in photographic-films) and in detergent, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and coating compsns.
