In a ship which is driven by a highly viscous fuel which can only be pumped in the heated state, provision is made for a supply-tank section containing about a day's quantity to be provided with additional heating devices in order to heat a portion of the fuel supply in the tank to a pumpable state. The section of the supply tank can be a cell which is partitioned off at the bottom or underneath and has a larger inflow opening through which the viscous fuel can subsequently flow slowly after the day's quantity is removed.
