The keyboard carries, in addition to conventional alphanumeric keys, an X-Y input device such as a trackball (1) located e.g. in the centre of the space bar between a pair of exclusive action keys (2). The ball (1) can be rotated easily about both axes by the thumbs lifted for this purpose from the space bar, while the four fingers of each hand remain in their usual positions on home keys. ADVANTAGE - Coordinate-input trackball or cursor controller can be operated by both thumbs without movement of either hand away from keyboard.
