In a washing machine with a motor driven wash and spin srum, the actual fluctuation of the drive motor speed are determined during the phase, when the washing is being distributed over the drum. The desired value of the imbalance is calcualted by a processor as a function of the type and quantity of the washing. If a comparator establishes any discrepancy, it regulates the motor speed until the imbalance remains within the set limits.
