The holder comprises two side plates (1,2) whose inside surfaces are coated with a flexible adhesive layer (3,4), and optical fibres (9) sandwiched in between. The optical fibres lie parallel to one another in a band between the opposing side plates. Preferably, one of the side plates (1) has a perpendicular bottom edge projecting inwards towards the other plate (2), and they are connected via a flexible hinge. Guide slits (11,12) may be provided in the top edges of the plates for accurate positioning of the optical fibres, e.g. for splicing the optical fibres. ADVANTAGE - Holds fibres in bands and thus avoids sorting of matching connections, reduces mechanical shock on fibres.
