The mattress has a permanently elastic core (16) on which is an upholstered, 'breathing' layer. The core top transverse area is divided into adjacent segments (1) spaced apart horizontally on all sides by cavities (A). The 'breathing' upholstered layer (S) is detachably fixed to the core segments and near the cavities, is divided up or is formed of connecting-bridges (13) which make the core segments vertically and elastically compressible, independently of adjacent core segments. The connecting-bridges are horizontal, very elastic, and made of textile, knitted fabric. USE/ADVANTAGE - The mattress is adapted to the human body shape so that the pressure at any point is the same. It has an upholstered top layer enabling the body to breathe. It is lightweight and easy to clean.
