Wood, bark, cardboard boxes, polyester etc. are shredded in a machine having a motor-driven toothed drum (2) in a frame preceded by feed drums (8,9) adjustable for height. Pref. feed drums move up-and-down in vertical guides (7) being driven by hydraulic motors (10,11) and there is a loading hopper adjacent to them, together with a conveyor belt.
