<p>The present invention (10) is an extended discharge system (22) for discharging a fire extinguishing material at a predetermined mass flow rate. The extended discharge system (22) includes an extended discharge container (24) filled with a fire extinguishing material, at least one discharge nozzle (28) connected with the extended discharge container (24) for discharging the fire extinguishing material into a protected space (14), and a variable pressure controller (50) interconnected between the container (24) and the discharge nozzle (28). The fire extinguishing material flows through the variable pressure controller (50) which produces a regulated pressure as a function of the inlet pressure to the variable pressure controller. By varying the regulated pressure, the extended discharge system (22) of the present invention (10) is able to maintain a mass flow rate within a predetermined optimum range at any temperature of the fire extinguishing material.</p> |
