The invention concerns a liquid-crystal material based on a mixture of polar compounds exhibiting positive dielectric anisotropy. The material is characterized in that it contains one or more compounds of the general formula (I), in which L<1> and L<2> are each H or F; n is 1 or 2; X is H, F, Cl, CF3, OCF3 or OCHF2; and R is an alkyl, oxaalkyl, fluoroalkyl or alkenyl group with up to 7 C-atoms.
