Use of 3-isopropyl carbamyl sulphonamido-4- (3-methylphenyl) amino-pyridine - for treatment of obstructive airway disorders, e.g. acute or chronic bronchitis or asthma

A cpd. referred to in the claims as 4-3'-methyl-phenylamino- pyridine-3-sulphonamide, and also referred to in the disclosure as torasemide or 1-isopropyl-3-(4-(3-methylphenylamino) pyridine-3-sulphonyl)urea, is used to treat obstructive airway disorders. USE/ADVANTAGE - Torasemide may be used to treat acute or chronic bronchitis, asthma, and exercise-, nebuliser- or allergen-induced bronchoconstriction in asthmatics. Torasemide is more active than furosemide in tests based on measurement of airway resistance and pulmonary infiltration of inflammatory cells in guinea pigs.
