PICTURE IMAGE PROCESSING CIRCUIT AND METHOD

interlaced video signal to 1:1 progressive video signal with interpolation of the data lost during interlacing and accurate separation of luminance and chroma signal, to improve the definition of the video signal. The circuit includes a line controller (2) for generating line control signal when scanning, a frame memory (3) for storing the video signal selected by a switching section (1), a buffer (4), and a luminance/chroma separating & interpolation filtering section (5) for separating luminance & chroma signal and interpolating the data lost during interlace-scanning.
