To determine the distance between the mutually facing inner faces (20, 28) of the panes (1, 6) of insulating glass elements and also the total thickness thereof, a device for assembling insulating glass, having a conveying means (3) for a pane (1) which defines a reference plane (10) for one of the panes (1) and having guide rollers (7, 8) which define a reference plane (11) for the second pane (6), is provided with feelers (12 and 13) which can be moved forwards perpendicular to the reference plane (10, 11) into contact with the panes (1, 6). The feelers (12, 13) are coupled, if appropriate, with electronic rulers (25, 26) which record the distance between the faces (20, 27), which are remote from the reference panes (10, 11), of the first and the second pane (1, 6). To determine the width of the spacer frame (5), provision is made for a further feeler (13) which can be moved forward perpendicular to the reference plane (10) into contact with a spacer frame (5) attached on the one pane (1) and with which is coupled an electronic ruler (26), if appropriate. ……
