PURPOSE:To enable emission of light with partially different color by providing a tube encapsulating plural discharge gas for emitting light of different color, discharge electrodes arranged at the opposite ends of tube and color change electrodes arranged at proper positions on the outer face of tube. CONSTITUTION:Upon connection of the input terminals 12a, 12b to commercial power source, sinusoidal voltage is phase controlled through phase control circuit to produce pulse wave which is applied onto a series capacitor 11. Consequently, charging current will flow to said capacitor thus to excite the low voltage winding 10L and to induce high voltage across the high voltage winding 10H and apply between the discharge electrodes 3, 4. Said high voltage will excite the discharge tube 2 to produce the discharging condition where any one gas will emit light of red or blue color. When performing phase control of current flowing through series capacitor 11 by means of phase control circuit 13 to vary the pulse current waveform to be fed to the low voltage winding, the color of light can be varied from red to blue or blue to red. |
