The ice breaker device is for use on roads and pavements. It is fastened to a vehicle, which moves on at least one roller (8). The roller has an associated jacket (1). The outer surface of the jacket is constructed, so that the roller can brake-up the ice layer. The roller jacket has ribs (12). These are pref. arranged in rows, which extend parallel to the jacket lines of the roller. Each rib has a Y-profile. The V-shaped part of the profile is formed by an angled strip with rectangular profile. The angle between the flanks of the strip is pref. 150 degrees, and a spike is connected to the angle. The spike is directed in direction of travel of the vehicle. ADVANTAGE - Easy removal of ice without damage to road surface.
