A electroding wire for wire discharge machining is composed of 30- 38 wt.% Zinc (Zn), 0.1-0.8 wt.% chromium (Cr), 0.1-0.3 wt.% silicon (Si) and the balance copper (Cu) and inevitable impurities (less than 0.1 wt.%). The addition of the chromium element improves the discharged machining rate and reduces the amount of electroding wire component adhering to the materials to be machined and addition of the silicon element improves high temperature strength during the discharged machining, hot workability, and castability during the production of electroding wire.
