A fuel pump assembly comprises an electric motor, impeller, distance ring and pump cover within a housing. A thin circular flexible ring seal covers and seals the gap between the distance ring and the impeller. The seal is mfd. from the PTFE film with a centrally embedded reinforcing glass fibre mat. A low friction sliding surface between the impeller and the pump cover is also mfd. in PTFE film. Both the impeller and distance ring are mfd. by injection moulding phenolic resin. USE/ADVANTAGE - The pump delivers liq. fuels, has good seal between the pump impeller and distance ring even if tolerances in these pts. are poor and has components mfd. by an inexpensive process.
