The first machine part (11) has a groove (14) opening towards the second concentric machine part (12) and the sealing ring (15) is placed in the groove. The sealing ring has two axial sections (16, 17) resting sealingly on a bearing face (18) of the second machine part. One of the axial sections (16, 17) has full length grooves (23) to act as a channel and maintain an open connection between the high pressure side (H) and the hollow cavity (19) formed between the first and second section (16, 17). In the pressureless state these sections are pref. convex. Further sections can be provided through which the sealing ring adjoins the base (21) of the groove. The hydraulic pressure not only acts over the entire surface on the radially aligned end face of the ring on the high pressure side also by force component formed in the cavity to relax the first section of the ring. ADVANTAGE - Long service life with min. leakage.
