<p>PURPOSE:To shorten the overall length of a master cylinder and to prevent air from being sucked in a master cylinder by bringing plate, through which an operation rod is pierced, into pressure contact with brake booster through a rod seal to seal them together. CONSTITUTION:A master cylinder 1 has a piston 3 slidably engaged internally of a cylinder bore 2 of a cylinder body 1a, and the one end thereof is connected to a brake booster 20. A radially extended extension part 1b is connected to the cylinder body 1a, an annular groove 1c is formed in the outer peripheral surface thereof, and a plate 6 is engaged with the end part of the cylinder body 1a. The plate 6 has a circular bottom part 6a having a through-hole 7 which is formed in a central part and through which an operation rod 21 is pierced, and a space 11 is communicated with the open air through a notch 10 formed in the bottom part 6a. A rod seal 13 is located between the plate 6 and a front shell 22 and sealing is carried out by fastening a bolt 9.</p> |
