A hydraulically-actuated metal cutter consisting of two cutting blades (1a, 1b) pivoted on a common axis and mounted in a fork end (3), at the back end of which is fixed the double acting jack (2) whose piston rod (4) is connected to the cutting blades via links (5). The fork end and hence the blades are so mounted on the body section (10) of the device that it can be rotated about its longitudinal axis driven by a hydraulic motor (15). Associated with the cutter and fixed to the fork end is a hydraulically operated clamp (16) whose jaws (18a, 18b) grip the item to be cut thus holding it steady and in the correct orientation whilst the cutting takes place. |
