PURPOSE:To improve rigidity for all the gear in such a way that the turning central axis is positioned on the line which includes the vertical side which includes the center of a steering shaft at its reference position and the center of an intermediate axia, and intersects the side orthogonal to said vertical side. CONSTITUTION:In the reference position I which sets the turning central axis 11 arranged near to a universal joint 5 at the lower end of a steering shaft 2 in the middle of the height adjusting range of a steering wheel 1, the vertical side which includes the center of the shaft 2 and the center of an intermediate axis 4 are included and positioned on the line which intersects the side orthogonal to said vertical side. During tilting, in comparison with the upward and downward adjusting rate in the wheel 1, the behavior by the radius R1 which takes the axis 11 of the shaft 2 as its center can be minimized, and also the deflection L' in the joint 5 by the movement at the lower end of the shaft 2 and by the movement at the upper end of the axis 4 by the radius R2 which is taken as the center of a joint 6 can be diminished to a negligible extent, so that it eliminates the need of absorbing the L' with use of a resilient material. |
