Appts. for loading of portable creel stands for section warping, esp. with a variety of creels, comprises portable stand placed in a loading frame which has sequential identification facilities for the pattern of variable reels. The frame is made easily accessible and the supports of the frame contain visible indicators for the respective reel position. The portable creel stand (1) pref. has creel pegs (3) on support rails (4,5,6) and rollers (7) to transport to a working position when loaded. The stand (1) is first placed in the correct working position within the frame (8), which has internal vertical bars (11) with some form of visible indicator (10) such as a lamp working electro-magnetically, and switches (18) to indicate when the reel is in position. These are under the control of a programme in an electronic circuit, so that indication is made of the relative position for each reel, and acknowledge when completed. These indicators are positioned between the rows of creel pegs when the stand is in the frame. On top of each side of the frame is a visual indicator (19) to display the requirements for each sequence, so that only reels of a particular colour or quality are loaded into the positions selected by the programme and indicated at the lights (10) and visual display. When the reel is placed in position, a record is made on the computer, with a print-out. ADVANTAGE - The electronic record ensures correct loading according to the pattern. The operation can be carried out more quickly.
