PURPOSE:To obtain magnesia carbon refractory brick useful for lining of smelting device of metal, having excellent heat spalling properties. CONSTITUTION:Magnesia carbon refractory brick having a main blending composition of refractory brick consisting of 50-99.5wt.% magnesia-based refractory, 0.5-5.0wt.% content of mesophase-containing pitch powder and graphite and at least 0.5-15wt.% mesophase-containing pitch powder. The magnesia carbon refractory brick contains metal powder as other blending composition, may be impregnated with pitch or tar during or after burning and mesophase in a liquid crystal state has viscosity and forms strong carbon bond to relax thermal stress and to improve heat spalling properties of refractory brick. |
