Control of retractable liquid crystal display panel - moving panel in and out of housing by motor coupled to rack and pinion with separate action for tilting when fully extended

A liquid crystal display panel (2) is in the form of a unit that is fully retractable into a box shaped housing. The panel may be extended and when sufficiently advanced can be tilted about an axis. The forward and retracted positions of the panel are detected by switches (SW2,SW3). A third switch indicates the rotary displacement (SW1). All switches are used to provide input to a microcomputer controller (20). Control of the unit is initiated by panel switches (3). The detector switches provide interlock signals for the sequence of operations. ADVANTAGE - Reduces number of manual operations to control system.
