<p>PURPOSE:To provide the developing method which eliminates the drawbacks of the conventional developing system using a two-component developer consisting of a magnetic carrier and a toner, improves the image reproducibility of fine lines and dots, prevents not only toner splashing but carrier splashing as well and can greatly improve image densities as well. CONSTITUTION:This developing method consists in transporting the two-component developer consisting of the magnetic carrier and the toner to a developing area 26 from a developing device 16 by a sleeve 12, developing the electrostatic latent image on an electrostatic latent image carrying member 15 in the developing area 26 and circulating the developer used for the development to the developing device 16. The developing conditions in the developing area 26 of such developing method are so set as to satisfy equation I and development is executed by impressing an AC voltage forming alternate electric fields between the max. potential and min. potential of electrostatic latent images at the same polarity as the polarity of the electrostatic latent images between the developing sleeve and the electrostatic latent image carrying member. In addition, the toner having 8 to 10mum average grain sizes and having such a grain size 17 distribution that the particles having <=1/2 the average particle size occupies <=3wt.% of the entire part is used as the toner.</p> |
