PURPOSE:To increase torque at a low engine speed in an engine in which an exhaust flow passage is branched and each branched flow passage is provided with a turbo-charger equipped with a rotary electric machine. CONSTITUTION:Each of branched, exhaust flow passage of a V-engine 9 is provided with a turbo-charger 2 equipped with a rotary, electric machine 4 and a turbo-charger 1 equipped with a rotary, electric machine 3, while valves 17, 24, 25, which open or close the flow passage, are arranged in such a way that the supercharging passage of these turbo-chargers 2, 1, can freely be switched to a parallel connection or to a series connection. When high boost pressure is needed in a low engine speed, the valves 24, 17 are closed, while the valve 25 is opened, so that the turbo-chargers 1, 2 are comected in a series to each other. In addition, both rotary, electric machines 3 and 4 are electrically driven, so that compressed gas obtained through two-stage supercharging can forcibly be fed to the engine. |
