发明名称 Hydrogen@ prodn. in vehicle using stirling engine - to convert IC engine waste heat into electrical energy for water electrolyser
摘要 Hydrogen is produced in vehicles by converting the waste heat of the engine into electrical energy, by means of a Stirling engine which drives an a.c. generator, for current supply to the accumulators in a hybrid vehicle or to the electrolyser in a hydrogen-driven vehicle. The electrical energy is converted, in the electrolyser, into chemical energy as H2 and O2 which are combusted in the engine cylinders to form steam. The Stirling engine extracts the energy content of the hot steam and is opt. also supplied with energy extracted from the coolant and the oil by a heat exchanger, the waste steam being condensed in a condenser for return by an electric motor to the electrolyser. USE/ADVANTAGE - The process is applicable to all types of vehicles (esp. hybrid vehicles) such as ships, submarines, automobiles, aircraft, rail vehicles and in industrial plants and factories. It provides energy recovery, hydrogen prodn. and battery charging (in hybrid vehicles) without noxious exhausts and the need for hydrogen tanks, provides increased engine power since the electrolyser also produces oxygen and only requires periodic topping up of a water tank.
