The napkin comprises an absorbent assembly (10) including a liquid impermeable backsheet (2), an absorbent member (3) of pulp fibres and water absorbent polymer and a liquid permeable topsheet (1) of apertured plastic film. A flap (20) extends from each side of the said assembly (10), each flap being formed of superposed portions of the backsheet (2) and topsheet (1) connected together along their outer margins. The backsheet is provided with adhesive portions (4, 7) covered by peelable sheets (6, 9). The topsheet has apertureless side edge areas (B) of uneven surface configuration and has border areas (C) formed between the side edge areas (B) and the flaps (20), also not apertured. The topsheet is connected to the backsheet at the border areas (C). The topsheet (1) also has flap central areas (E) at which it is unconnected to the backsheet, said areas being defined by the outer marginal areas of the flaps (20) and border areas (C) and having an uneven surface configuration without apertures. <IMAGE> |
