<p>An axial pin tumbler cylinder lock has a cruciform key 9 and keyway 12. Two cylindrical plugs 1, 2 sit in a cylindrical barrel 6 and are provided with bores 13 which house the tumblers 3, 4. The junction between the plugs defines a shear line which when cleared by the tumblers allows relative rotation of the plugs. The tumblers are biased by springs 5 away from the keyway opening. The key is inserted in the keyway and rotated until its arms 91 with billing 912 are underneath the tumblers. The key is then pushed towards the opening of the keyway by plate 71 which urged by spring 72, and the tumblers are pulled into the required position by the billing 912 on the outer edges of the arms 91, to allow relative rotation of the plugs and opening of the lock. The tumblers are of two part form 3', 4, opening of the lock being possible when parts 3 are wholly within plug land parts 4 are wholly within plug 2. <IMAGE></p> |
