An extension (10) comprising: an arm (12) and a support pole (14) the arm (12) being mounted to the pole (14) for rotational movement about a first axis (42), rotational movement about a second axis (44) generally perpendicular to the first axis (42), and reciprocal movement in a direction generally parallel to the first axis; with the arm 12 being capable of being either permanently or detachably secured to a device eg. at cradle (16), and the pole 14 being capable of being either permanently or detachably secured to a support (56), in such a manner that the extension (10) is capable of being moved by hand to control the spatial position of the device relatively to the support. Preferably the pole has a rotary joint and is telescopic. Preferably the arm (14) is telescopic, has a handle (60) and is counterweighted. The support can be the ground or a vehicle.
