The invention relates to cosmetic and pharmaceutical compositions containing the derivatives of benzylidenecamphor of formula: (I) where R1 denotes H, OH, C1-C3 alkyl or C1-C8 alkoxy, R3 denotes OH, C1-C3 alkyl or C1-C8 alkoxy, or else when R1 denotes H or OH, R3 can represent C1-C8 alkyl, R2 and R4 denote H or OH, at least one of the radicals R2 and R4 representing OH. The compounds (I) are wide-band sunscreens and antioxidants, and are utilized in the treatment of cutaneous inflammations and allergies.
