PURPOSE:To make an illuminating appliance which is thin and is advantageous when installed as an illuminating appliance, etc. for a display on a wall by using the end face of a light transmittable plate as a light incident part and sticking a light scatterable material to the front and rear of the light transmittable plate. CONSTITUTION:Various materials such as glass and plastic having high transparency are usable for the light transmittable plate 10 and above all, the material having good light resistance is more preferable. The film 11 contg. the light scatterable material is stuck on the rear of the plate 10 over approximately the entire surface thereof and a display layer 12 on which the characters, etc. to be displayed are drawn is formed on the front. Reflecting layers 13 are formed on both side end faces. The light made incident to the plate 10 through the end face from a light source part 2 progresses in the plate 10 by repeating the total reflection while the light is partly scattered by the film 11 contg. the light scatterable material. The illuminating light is therefore obtd. from the entire surface of the point where the film 11 is stuck and the display of the light and pattern by the layer 12 with the light is made possible. |
